Welcome

Palliative care is care provided to people of all ages who have a life limiting illness, with little or no prospect of cure, and for whom the primary treatment goal is quality of life.

National Palliative Care Week 2012

“Some things are too important to be left unsaid … let’s chat about dying ” is the theme for the 15th National Palliative Care Week, which will take place during the week 20 – 26 May, 2012. The Loddon Mallee Regional Palliative Care Consortium is supporting National Palliative Care Week 2012 and is encouraging all Australians to ‘chat about dying’.

Patients and Carers

Across the Loddon Mallee Region there is a range of palliative care services available for people living with a life limiting illness.  These services recognise that illness affects the whole person and their family and carers in many ways, be it physically, emotionally, socially or spiritually, and take a holistic approach to provide appropriate services for patients and their carers.  Services are offered in a range of settings including the patient’s own home, residential aged care, and hospitals.

The Consortium

The Loddon Mallee Regional Palliative Care Consortium (LMRPCC) is an alliance of palliative care providers across the Loddon Mallee region, established in 2004. These organisations work in the community (caring for people in their homes), in acute settings (caring for people in hospital) and in inpatient settings (providing care in a hospice or palliative care unit).

This website has information for health care professionals, clients, carers, volunteers and those who wish to know more about palliative care.  For more details about the Consortium’s role go to the About Us  page.
