Grants to support the development of female leaders in Health Care

In 2015 Women & Leadership Australia is administering a national initiative to support the development of female leaders across all sectors. Grant applications are open to women employed in the Health care sector across the following three levels.

1. Senior Management and Executive level Women Leaders – $11,000 Individual Grants to undertake the Advanced Leadership Program.

2. Women Managers – $4,500 Individual Grants to undertake the Accelerated Leadership Performance Program.

3. Women at all management levels – limited allocation of subsidised seats to attend the Australian Women’s Leadership Symposium

Dementia Education, Bendigo, 28 April

Palliative approach to dementia care training will be provided 28 April, from 10am to 1pm, at Level 1, 10 – 16 Forest Street, Bendigo. Palliative Care Bridge

The Palliative Care Bridge delivers innovative educational videos and resources on palliative care by respected experts and specialists in their fields. Theiraim is to better equip users of the site to gain confidence and specialised knowledge in the delivery of appropriate palliative care to people in need.

Victorian Palliaitive Care Nurse Practitioner Collaborative Forum 13 April

The Centre for Palliative Care is looking forward to the upcoming VPCNPC Forum being held on Monday 13th April 2015 from 10:00am to 3:15pm at the Education Centre, 3rd Floor Healy Wing, St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. Registration and tea/coffee will be available from 9.30am with the program beginning at 10am.

It should be a fantastic day with a case study from Tom Whelan (NPC), followed by facilitated discussion, and presentations from Dr Sonia Fullerton (from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, who will provide an introduction to Palliverse – a palliative care research network across Australia and New Zealand) and Dr Tamsin Bryan, who will focus her presentation on Neurological Assessment. It should be a great day, ending with a presentation from A/Prof Mark Boughey on the role of medical mentor for NPs and NPCs. The program can be found here: VPCNPC forum agenda 2015

Master Class – Pharmacology in Palliative Care

This is a Master Class for GP’s, Specialist Palliative Care staff, RN’s and Clinical Mangers across all care settings. The day will review pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and the impact on use and doses of typical medications prescribed for palliative patients.
